We work with many special needs and autism spectrum students. Individualized instruction helps to compensate for learning differences and allows us to match a tutor that is a good match in terms of academic subjects, learning differences, and personality. We work to make the best match possible for these students and have tutors with a variety of backgrounds and teaching styles. Available information from psych ed assessments, teachers and doctors is drawn upon to put together individualized programs to help these students reach goals.
Please note that while one to one tutoring compensates for many learning challenges, our tutoring is not ‘therapeutic.’ Meaning: we provide academic support but do not endeavour to do brain reprogramming or “fix” a learning disability. We work with students around Tutor Doctor Miami to support them in the learning process, provide study and organizational skills, help them learn strategies for coping and compensating, and take advantage of the strengths they have.
Here are some of the special needs that our tutors have skill in helping:
- Hearing Impairment
- Test Anxiety
- Visual Processing Disorder
- Visual-Spatial Disability
- Learning Disabilities
- Auditory Processing Disorder
- Individualized Education Programs (IEP)
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
